Volunteers needed

Schools, libraries and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and assist in related projects.

Among them are:

Our House Youth Home, 4110 College Ave., Ellicott City, which needs tutors for boys ages 16 to 19 in reading, math and writing. A volunteer to teach carpentry and electrical wiring basics is being sought. Contact: Naseem Skaarenborg, 410-418-8268.

Education-Based Latino Outreach, 1001 S. Potomac St., Baltimore, which needs bilingual tutors to teach English to children between 9 a.m. and noon Saturdays, and to work with adults during the week. Contact: Jose Ruiz, 410- 563-3160.
