Gamber resident inducted into MS Hall of Fame

January 10, 1999

Janice R. Kirkner of Gamber has been inducted into the Hall of Fame for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Diagnosed with the disease in 1980, she has been a dedicated volunteer to the Maryland chapter since 1985. She has conducted the MS Charity Golf Classic at Wakefield Valley for the past 14 years.

Kirkner has held several positions with the local MS chapter, and her fund-raising activities have generated almost $200,000 for the organization.

She is chairwoman-elect for the national society.

A wife and mother of two children, she divides her time among family, the society and working as a real estate agent with Long & Foster Realtors.

Eligibility for the hall of fame is based on support of the society, influence in the community and efforts to advance awareness of the society's mission.
