Seniors chosen as S. Carroll students of Nov.

South Carroll High School seniors Tracey McElroy and David Lubitz were chosen students of the month for November by the Student Recognition Committee.

Tracey is the daughter of Bonnie and Jay McElroy of Mount Airy. She is vice president of the Student Government Association, a National Honor Society member, graphics editor of the school newspaper and a class executive board member.

She also is a champion varsity tennis player and manager of the men's varsity soccer team. She has won numerous academic contests.

David is the son of Bob and Linda Lubitz of Westminster. He is vice president of the National Honor Society and a member of the Student Government Association, county SGA and mock trial team.

He was on the state cross country team and is captain of the school's indoor track team. He is an honor student with a perfect attendance record.

Both students plan to go to college.

Fires

Mount Airy: Firefighters responded at 6: 43 p.m. Wednesday to a fire alarm in the 100 block of Watersville Road. Units were out 12 minutes.

Winfield: Firefighters responded at 8: 21 p.m. Wednesday to a fire alarm in the 5000 block of Fleming Road. Units were out 11 minutes.
