Volunteers needed

Schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and assist in related projects.

Among them are:

The Teen Youth Program of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, which provides vocational-educational support for middle and high school pupils. Tutors are needed to help pupils with homework, from 2: 30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at an area middle school, and 3: 30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at an area high school. Hampden Family Center, 1104 W. 36th St., for tutoring pupils of all ages in reading and other subjects, and an after-school program for ages 7 to 14. Hours are 3 p.m. to 5: 30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Contact: Kathy Barnes, 410-467- 8710.
