Sykesville to pick up Christmas trees

Sykesville will offer curbside pickup of Christmas trees Monday and Jan. 11.

Residents should leave trees outside by 5 a.m.

Piney Run Park also is accepting Christmas trees to be turned into mulch. Trees can be dropped off when the park at 30 Martz Road is open.

Trees must be stripped of all ornamentation, including tinsel.

Fires

Sykesville: Firefighters from Sykesville and Mount Airy responded at 11: 39 a.m. Tuesday to a chimney fire in the 11000 block of Monticello Drive, Howard County. Units were out 34 minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 5: 26 p.m. Tuesday to a fire alarm in the 1900 block of Liberty Road. Units were out three minutes.

Sykesville: Firefighters responded at 10: 31 p.m. Tuesday to children locked in a car in the 7000 block of MacBeth Way. Units were out 20 minutes.
