Santa's gift to Bill was an inexplicably healthy economy, which nearly guarantees that nothing truly bad will happen.

The end of the Cold War is wonderful. Bearded men in red suits sneaking in with gifts are no longer feared subversives.

The people who blame steak for heart attacks and whole milk as cholesterolic are taking aim next at turkeys, which present a big fat target.

If there is a surplus of holiday good will, bottle it for distribution in mid-January, when we all could use it.
