December 24, 1998

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has temporarily closed Sam's Club hot dog stand at 2100 Generals Highway in Annapolis because of a lack of hot water discovered during inspections of food service establishments between Dec. and Dec. 15.

The stand was shut down Dec. 10 and remains closed.

Health workers inspected 225 restaurants and other establishments during the first two weeks of December and found 39 with critical food safety violations that were immediately corrected. They found multiple violations at three places.

Court of Shanghai Inc. at 1971 West St. in Annapolis was cited for not holding food at the proper temperature and for cross-contaminating ready-to-serve food.

Jerman's IGA at 871 Annapolis Road in Gambrills was cited for not holding food at the proper temperature and for having adulterated or spoiled food.

Friendly Ice Cream at 412 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie was cited for not holding food at the proper temperature and for workers not washing their hands well.
