Stabbing killed woman of unknown identity

December 24, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

An autopsy showed yesterday that a woman whose body was found Tuesday in the basement of a rowhouse in the 2300 block of Barclay St. died of stab wounds to the back and chest, police said.

She was the city's 303rd homicide victim this year, police said.

Detective Donald Kramer said that plaster casts would be taken of the woman's hands to try to identify her through fingerprints.

Kramer said evidence at the scene showed the woman may have been dead since September.

He said the house showed signs of a forced entry but it was not known if the woman was killed during a burglary or if the house had been broken into after she died.
