1998 Terrazze della Luna Novello Teroldego delle Venezie...

Wine of the week

December 16, 1998|By Michael Dresser

1998 Terrazze della Luna Novello Teroldego delle Venezie ($9).

This Italian red wine from Cavit is a "new wine" in the style of Beaujolais Nouveau - but with a difference. It's significantly better. Made from the little-known but high-quality teroldego grape, it delivers intense black cherry and black raspberry fruit with all the freshness of a young Beaujolais but with more body and roundness. The producers claim it has greater shelf life than Beaujolais, but why tempt fate? Buy it, enjoy it, serve it alone or with a wide variety of foods (meat, poultry, pasta). Just use it up within the next month or two.
