Sterne, ex-Sun editor, elected to Newspaper Hall of Fame

Joseph R. L. Sterne, former editorial page editor of The Sun who spent 47 years in the newspaper business, has been elected to the Maryland-Delaware-District of Columbia Newspaper Hall of Fame.

When inducted in February, Sterne will become the 32nd person the Hall of Fame, which is in the journalism building at the University of Maryland, College Park. Sterne, who molded opinion for a generation of Sun readers, retired in 1997 after 43 years at Maryland's largest newspaper.

The MDDC Press Association is a nonprofit organization of 130 newspapers whose membership consists of all daily newspapers and most nondaily newspapers in Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
