Reception sites with sights to behold

For those of you who're planning a wedding reception - whether for a small group or for hundreds of guests - here's a partial list of some of the area's most popular reception venues. The list will appear occasionally as space permits.

Admiral Fell Inn, 888 S. Broadway, 410-522-7380, Ext. 114. Eight-eenth-century hotel in Fells Point. Contact: Marlene Meyer. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 120 seated with dancing, 150 standing with food stations and dancing. Available weekday evenings and weekends all day. Cost: $80 per person and up. In-house catering only.

Antrim 1844 Country Inn, 30 Trevanion Road, Taneytown, 410-876-0237. Nineteenth-century plantation. Contact: Linda Stev-ens or Dorothy Mollett. Reservations accepted up to 18 months in advance. Accommodates 225 seated, 350 standing. Available daily. Cost: Basic rental ranges from $250 for small parties to $2,200. Catering extra; in-house only. Guest rooms available.

Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway, 410-727-4808, Ext. 119. A showcase for industrial work settings. Contact: Jason Hoffman. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 250 seated, 500 standing. Available every day from 6 p.m. to midnight except Wednesdays. Caterers subject to approval. Cost: $500 for four hours, plus $4 per person. Surrounding

grounds may be rented for an additional $150. The pavilion can accommodate 250 to 500 seated, 500 to 700 standing. No smoking inside.

Baltimore Rowing and Water Resource Center, 3301 Waterview Ave., 410-396-3838. Situated on the Patapsco River. Contact: Thayer Robinson. Reserve six months in advance. Accommodates 100 seated, 250 standing. Available evenings and Saturdays. Caterers must provide their own insurance. Cost: $800 for eight hours.

Belmont Manor House, 6555 Belmont Woods Road, Elkridge, 410-796-4300. Eighteenth-century manor house with formal garden. Contact: Ben Rooney. Reserve as soon as possible. Accommodates 50 seated indoors, 100 indoors for a cocktail reception, 250 for an outdoor garden reception. Available weekends year-round. Cost: $1,650-$5,000 for weekend rental, Fridays to Sundays. Includes use of the house, garden and overnight rooms. Other packages are available. In-house catering available for up to 100 guests. Licensed and approved caterers only. Dancing facilities available.

Blue Heron Center, Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road, Annapolis, 410-222-1777. Indoor facility at Anne Arundel County park overlooks Victorian-style formal gardens. Contact: Mary Northam. Reservations taken up to one year in advance. Accommodates 150 seated, 225 standing. Available daily, except Tuesdays, from noon to 5 p.m. or 7 p.m. to midnight. Cost varies. In-house catering only.

Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster, 410-876-2667. More than 140 acres with 19th-century gardens. Contact: Emma Beaver. Open May through October. Reserve three months in advance. Accommodates 110 under a covered pavilion and up to 100 in the reception barn. Garden with gazebo available during the summer months. There is a different charge for the pavilion, barn and garden. Call for pricing information. Music and caterers subject to museum's approval. Alcohol permitted by contract.

Evergreen House, 4545 N. Charles St., 410-516-0341. Authentic 1870s carriage house and formal gardens on 26 acres. Contact: Jane Katz. Reserve as soon as possible. Available daily. Carriage House accommodates 400 standing, 225 seated with a tent; 225 standing and 100 seated without tent. Cost is $2,700 with tent; $1,600 without. Tented gardens hold 800. Call for rates. Caterers must be approved. No smoking.

Fire Museum of Maryland, 1301 York Road, Lutherville, 410-321-7500. Large exhibition gallery displaying more than 40 examples of fire apparatus from 1806. Contact: Debbie Brown. Available weekday evenings after 5 p.m., weekends all day November through April and weekends May through October after 5 p.m. Accommodates 160 seated, 360 standing. Additional capacity with use of tents. Cost: $600 for four hours, plus $2 per person. Limited dancing. No smoking indoors. Approved caterers only.

Forum Caterers Inc., 4210 Primrose Ave., 410-358-1101. Contact: Jarina Catchings. Elegant decorated ballrooms for guest accommodations of 75 to 700 people. Specialists in custom and ethnic weddings. Personally attended bridal suite available for bride and groom.

Geneva Farm Golf Club, 217 Davis Road, Bel Air, 410-879-4900. A century-old former barn renovated in 1990. Contact: Francis or Nancy Pieper at Harford Caterers. Reserve up to six months in advance. Accommodates 200 people seated with dancing, 325 standing. Available every day. Packages start at $28.95 per person. Catering by Harford Caterers.
