Two Deale 14-year-olds charged in barn fire

December 10, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two Deale youths were charged Tuesday with setting a Thanksgiving Day barn fire that indirectly led to the deaths of an elementary school teacher and her boyfriend on their way to Thanksgiving dinner.

A volunteer fire company pickup truck heading to the fire hit the couple's car as it turned into the driveway of the man's aunt's house on Shady Side Road.

Angelia Cowan and Kenneth Pindell, both 27, were pinned in the car. They were pronounced dead at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

The 14-year-olds are being charged with second-degree arson and reckless endangerment. Officials would not name them because they are juveniles.
