A Westminster High School student arrested at school Monday on marijuana and theft charges was ordered held in a detention facility yesterday, pending further action by juvenile authorities.

The boy, 16, was not identified because of his age.

Westminster police said the boy became a suspect during an investigation into the Oct. 19 theft of auto parts from Griffith Auto Park at 580 Baltimore Blvd.

Detectives had the suspect's car under surveillance at school Monday and took him into custody when he returned and got into the vehicle. They told him to empty his pockets onto the hood of his car. After he removed a small bag of suspected marijuana from his pocket, the vehicle was searched and several homemade marijuana pipes, drug paraphernalia and cigarettes

were found, police said.

Police said they found fireworks and 11 bags of suspected marijuana in the car's trunk.

In addition, police said two tires and chrome wheels, which matched the description of items stolen from Griffith Auto Park, were found on the suspect's vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, fireworks and tobacco products, and theft over $300. No court date has been set.

He was being held at the Charles H. Hickey Jr. School, a facility in Baltimore County for juvenile offenders.
