Braves: Agreed to $1.2 million, two-year contract with C Eddie Perez.

Expos: Named Jeffrey Leonard roving hitting instructor. Claimed OF T. J. Staton off waivers from Pirates. Named Wayne Rosenthal pitching coach and Steve Phillips coach of Double-A Harrisburg.

Marlins: IF Kevin Millar and P Eric Ludwick cleared waivers and were assigned to Triple-A Charlotte.

Orioles: Recalled 2B Jesse Garcia from Triple-A Rochester.

Yankees: Extended deadline to exercise option on OF-DH Darryl Strawberry.

Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Single-A): New York-Penn League franchise relocated from Erie, Pa. to Niles, Ohio.

Tri-City Posse (WBL): Named Wally Backman manager and Floyd Youmans pitching coach.
