Executive editor to leave Patuxent Publishing Co.

Tom Graham, executive editor at Patuxent Publishing Co., is leaving to pursue other interests after 25 years with the company.

Graham joined the staff of Patuxent's flagship newspaper, the Columbia Flier, in 1973.

During his career, Patuxent grew from a company publishing one community newspaper to one with 13 Maryland weeklies, including the Towson Times, Owings Mills Times and Laurel Leader.

Graham will remain with the company until the end of the year.


Mary Becker has been named executive director of the Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund, a private, nonprofit financing alternative for emerging businesses in Howard County. A former board member of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and chairwoman of its economic development committee, Becker comes to the post with more than 20 years of banking experience in Howard County.

Tom Booker has joined Columbia-based Amerix Corp. as senior vice president and chief sales officer. A graduate of the Gilman School in Baltimore and the University of Wisconsin, Booker comes to Amerix from Fannie Mae, where he was director of technology sales and consulting for the company's customer technical services division. Using leading-edge technology, Amerix negotiates with creditors on the consumer's behalf, sets up systems to receive funds from consumers and disburse payments to creditors, and provides customer service and data for credit-counseling agencies. Amerix has more than 600 employees.
