Randy Peterson, athletic director and boys basketball coach at Carroll Christian School, has resigned to accept a teaching and coaching position in his hometown of Rockford, Ill. He expects to leave soon after coaching his last home game on Dec. 11.

Dr. David Rifenberick, a Carroll Christian administrator, said the school had already started seeking a replacement, checking on the availability of candidates internally as well as on the outside.

In his new position, Peterson, 44, will teach three physical education classes, coach girls basketballand assist the athletic director with the 51-team program for the middle school and high school. Although there has been a middle school for years, this is only the second year for the high school.

Peterson, who said he had been looking in recent months for a possible college position, said it was a friend who told him of the school.

"I called, they didn't have an opening, I sent a resume, and not long after I got a call saying this position was available," he said.

A veteran of 17 coaching seasons at four schools, Peterson got his 300th victory last February, and the Patriots went on to finish TC 26-3 for the year, 109-54 for his six seasons in Westminster. Overall, his record is 309-151.
