Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Southern District

Robbery/shootings: A man, 20, who was shot when he resisted a robber about 11: 30 p.m Tuesday in the 800 block of Clintwood Court in Brooklyn, pulled out his own handgun and returned fire, but hit a female bystander. The robber escaped. Police said the man was shot in the upper right leg and the woman in the right knee. Both were treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Burglary: Compact discs valued at $600 were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 1200 block of James St.

Theft: A man stole a jar of peanuts valued at $15 from the Opposite Side Saloon in the 100 block of S. Carey St. on Tuesday.

Theft: A woman, 26, was given a citation ordering her to appear in court after she was stopped from leaving the Safeway supermarket in the 1200 block of W. Pratt St. on Tuesday without paying for groceries valued at more than $90.

Southwestern District

Theft from vehicle: A cellular phone valued at $300 was stolen Tuesday from a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant parked in the 1800 block of Herman Ave.

Burglary: Several boxes of floor tiles, 10 gallons of paint and several lighting fixtures, all valued at nearly $500, were stolen Tuesday from a vacant house in the first block of S. Rosedale St.

Burglary: A videocassette recorder, electronic games and other property, all valued at nearly $1,200, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 700 block of Yale Ave.

Assault: A woman, 20, was stopped at a traffic light in the 700 block of Lyndhurst St. about 1 a.m. Tuesday when a gunman fired a shot at her. The bullet missed her but shattered a window of her 1997 Geo Prizm. The woman escaped and called police.

Stolen car: A 1980 Chevrolet pickup truck with tags 94D 530 was stolen Tuesday in the 100 block of S. Kossuth St.

Theft from vehicle: The headlights were removed from a 1994 Chevrolet Yellow Cab parked Tuesday in the 2700 block of Walnut Ave.

Northwestern District

Robbery try/arrest: A couple were in the 2800 block of Waldorf Ave. Tuesday night when a man tried to rob them. The couple fled to the 4000 block of Reisterstown Road, where they flagged down Officer Eric Gillums, who saw the man nearby and arrested him.

Stolen car: A black 1994 Infiniti G20 with tags CXC 322 was stolen Tuesday in the 2900 block of W. Belvedere Ave.

North Point Precinct

Theft/arrest: A teen-age male was arrested when he tried to leave the Value City discount store in the 7700 block of Eastern Blvd. on Tuesday without paying for jewelry and compact discs, all valued at nearly $80.

Theft: Police were seeking a known man who entered a house Tuesday in the 1800 block of Portship Road and took $400 from a purse.

Burglary: Several coats valued at more than $800 were stolen from a shed in the 6800 block of Rolling Mill Road on Tuesday.

Theft/arrests: Two East Baltimore boys were arrested Tuesday when they tried to leave Ames department store in the 8100 block of Eastern Blvd. without paying for video games valued at $100.

Theft: A bicycle valued at more than $100 was stolen Tuesday in the 1900 block of Inverton Road.

Cockeysville Precinct

Burglary: A 19-inch television and a boom-box radio, all valued at more than $400, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 1100 block of Belfast Road in Sparks.
