Zinman returns to BSO

David Zinman returns for the first time since his departure in June as music director to conduct the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in concerts today through Saturday at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St. The program includes Schumann's Piano Concerto with soloist Leif Ove Andsnes, American composer Steven Mackey's "Eating Greens," and Dvorak's Symphony No. 5.

Return to the Meyerhoff at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and swing to the sounds of Doc Severinsen and his Big Band. The Zinman concerts start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $21-$55 for the BSO, $20-$40 for Severinsen. Call 410-783-8000.

Patty Larkin

Folk music meets beat generation and rock when Patty Larkin performs at 8 p.m. today at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts, 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave. The singer, songwriter and guitarist is the winner of 11 Boston Music Awards and has seven solo releases. Lights! Action!

Three dazzling, drive-through displays of larger-than-life, animated and stationary holiday lights begin this week. Symphony of Lights glows in Symphony Woods, Columbia, Monday through Jan. 3. Hours are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thanksgiving Day and Friday-Saturday through Dec. 10, and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily starting Dec. 11. Tickets are $12 per vehicle, $25 commercial-size vans, and $75 buses (call 410-740-7666).

Lights on the Bay at Sandy Point State Park near Annapolis runs Friday through Jan. 3, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Tickets are $12 per car, $50 buses (call 410-974-2149).

Fantasy of Lights at Fort Howard Park sparkles Nov. 26 through Jan. 3. Hours are 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 5:30 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Tickets are $7 per car (call 410-887-7161).

'The Cunning Little Vixen'

The Peabody Opera Theatre and the Peabody Symphony Orchestra present the Baltimore premiere of Janacek's "The Cunning Little Vixen" at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Friedberg Concert Hall, 1 E. Mount Vernon Place. Based on a newspaper comic strip, the opera tells the story of the childhood, courtship and ultimate death of a young vixen, as contrasted with the humans who also live in the forest. Terrific tennis

Cheer on two of tennis' top players, Steffi Graf (pictured) and Jana Novotna, when they face off in the featured match at Shriver's Charity Tennis Challenge on Tuesday at the Baltimore Arena, 201 W. Baltimore St. Also featured are tournament chairwoman Pam Shriver, Martina Navratilova, Harold Solomon and Tom Gullikson in the preliminary Smith Barney Legends match.
