November 16, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Baltimore County police have identified Aaron Scott Jr., 38, of Woodlawn as the man who was shot Friday while trying to ram through a police barricade on Interstate 70.

Scott, of the 7100 block of Bexhill Road, was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center last night, a nursing coordinator said.

Police cruisers had boxed Scott into a westbound lane on the I-70 connector between Interstate 695 and Security Boulevard while checking his car for stolen license plates, according to police. As Scott tried to ram through the police cars, Officer James Wickless shot into Scott's car, hitting him in the upper torso, police said.

Wickless was placed on administrative suspension pending an investigation.

Scott's passenger, Marshall McNeill, 34, of the 500 block of Dolphin St., Baltimore, was charged with petty theft and obstruction of justice, police said.

Charges are pending against Scott, said Cpl. Patrick Kamberger.
