No. 4 Wilde Lake (9-1) vs. No. 2 Eastern Tech (10-0)

When: 7: 30 tonight

Where: Kenwood High, Baltimore County

Outlook: The defending Class 3A state champion Wildecats are shooting for their sixth state championship, but unbeaten Eastern Tech represents a formidable roadblock that wins with big plays, speedy receivers and a strong tailback out of an I-formation. Anthony Lawston, who has several major-college offers, is a 6-4, 215-pound WR with 37 catches for 670 yards and eight TDs. TB Ray Jones has 1,538 yards and 26 TDs. The Wildecats must pressure the QB and cover fade and slant patterns. They will count heavily on a defensive secondary that includes Danny Bayron, Mario Merrills, Chris Yetter and Chris Riley. Wilde Lake is banged up. Bayron, the SS, and Mike Jackson, a DE, have shoulder injuries. The other DE, Luke Vanderwagon, has a knee injury. The Wildecats hope to overcome any defensive shortcomings with a potent offense that features Jimmie Levins, who has rushed 147 times for 1,478 yards. He has 23 TDs and 138 total points. Bayron also has rushed 113 times for 772 yards and 78 points. QB Seth Smith has completed 36 of 60 passes for 594 yards. Wilde Lake has outscored its opponents 336-116. The Wildecats have won nine straight since losing their opener to Bel Air. Nick Service leds the team in tackles with 73 solos and 51 assists.

No. 13 Oakland Mills (9-1)

vs. Bohemia Manor (8-2)

When: 1 p.m. tomorrow

Where: Oakland Mills

Outlook: Bohemia Manor, running a wing-T attack, has won eight straight since opening losses to Edgewood and North Caroline. TB Brandon Wright has 953 yards and 15 TDs, and 6-2, 235-pound FB Mike Davis has 655 yards. The Cecil Countians have five shutouts and are led defensively by LB Rod Mahaffey, who has 94 tackles. QB Jeremey Poore has passed for 1,109 yards and 12 TDs. His targets are Andy Lee (23 catches) and Ben Jackson (15 catches). Bo Manor has outscored opponents, 286-111. Oakland Mills will not have RB Vinnie Rubbo on offense, but he will play defense. The Scorpions will pass a lot. QB T.J. Welsh is 65-for-113 for 1,270 yards and 16 TDs. Tom Browne has caught 34 passes for 623 yards and nine TDs. Top lineman Jay Frizzelle has six fumble recoveries, seven sacks, 42 solo tackles and 66 assists.
