Top finishers named in costume contest

DOZENS OF YOUNG -- and not so young -- folks descended on Taneytown on Oct. 29 for the annual Halloween parade.

Here are the top finishers in the parade's costume contest: Age 3 and younger: prettiest, Zoe Moore, Taylor Amoss, Justin Phillips; most unusual: Alexandra Petenbrink, Eric Kolm, Katie Grace Weant; scariest/ugliest, Kyle Chasen, Christopher Stonesifer, Ben Rasche; funniest, Cassidy Branham, Bradley Greifz, Alexandra Herring; most symbolic of Halloween, Tessa Branham, Travis Few, Hannah Cooke.

Ages 4 to 6: prettiest, Mercede Wilson, Brooke Atwell, Bryanna Schultz; most unusual, Sam Levee, Tyler Green, Emily Baumgardner; scariest/ugliest, Billy Atwell Jr., Brandon Forney, Ben Cooke; funniest, Shane Cole, Zachary Littrell, Brayden Buie; most symbolic, Alli Mahaney, Bradley Glass, Emily Philburn.

Friday night live

Caring and Sharing Ministries, supported by Taneytown-area churches and Charity's Celebrations, presents Friday Night Live from 6: 30 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m. tomorrow at Grace United Christ, 49 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown.

Thanksgiving music, games, crafts and treats will be available for children in grades one to three.

Cheap eats

This weekend's cheap eats -- good food at a reasonable price for a good cause -- are courtesy of Taneytown Rod and Gun Club.

The group's Good Old Country Breakfast features pancakes, buckwheat cakes, sausage, eggs, homemade biscuits, toast, sausage gravy, chipped beef gravy, pudding, hominy, fried potatoes, hot cheese, hot apples, fruit cocktail, orange juice and coffee.

The breakfast will be at the club, 12380 Shoemaker Road, between Taneytown and Emmitsburg.

Cost is $4.50 for adults, $3 for ages 8 to 12. Information: 410-751-1685.
