Police said excessive speed contributed to the death yesterday of a county man whose motorcycle crashed into a car at Ritchie Highway and Bon Air Avenue in Brooklyn Park.

Police said Norman Gene Morral, 25, of the 5200 block of Kramme Ave. in Brooklyn Heights, was riding a 1996 Suzuki GSX-600F motorcycle south on Ritchie Highway at high speed about 9: 33 a.m. when he crashed into the passenger side of a 1996 Buick Century, whose driver was attempting to turn left from Ritchie Highway onto westbound Bon Air Avenue.

Police said Morral was thrown from the motorcycle and into the passenger side of the car. He died of multiple injuries at 10: 13 a.m. at Harbor Hospital Center, they said.

The driver of the Buick, Joseph James Lentz Sr., 84, of the 1400 block of Elmtree St. in the Brooklyn section of Baltimore, was treated at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released, police said.
