Tonight's game

November 09, 1998

Time: 8: 20, chs. 2, 7.

Line: Packers by 3 1/2 .

Vs. spread: Packers 4-2; Steelers 3-4.

Outlook: Is the Pack really back to its Super Bowl best? Not quite. QB Brett Favre is still throwing the ball away too much, and RB Travis Jervey needs to prove that he's the answer to Green Bay's problems with the running game. The illusions may have finally run out for the Steelers, who have been near the top of the AFC Central all year despite a horrendous offensive season. But their next three games are Green Bay, at Tennessee and Jacksonville, a stretch that could obliterate Pittsburgh's playoff hopes.

Notable: Steelers have won their past six Monday night home games, and the Packers are 7-2 on Monday night since 1994.

Injuries:

PACKERS: Out: RB Dorsey Levens (knee); WR Derrick Mayes (knee). Questionable: S Scott McGarrahan (knee); QB Doug Pederson (jaw); WR Bill Schroeder (ankle); C Frank Winters (foot). Probable: RB Travis Jervey (toe).

STEELERS: Out: LB Mike Vrabel (ankle). Questionable: LB Carlos Emmons (groin); DE Nolan Harrison (hamstring); LB Donta Jones (quad); CB Carnell Lake (ankle); DE Orpheus Roye (foot); C-G Jim Sweeney (foot); G Will Wolford (pectoral). Probable: DE Kevin Henry (ankle); RB Fred McAfee (hamstring).
