Health Department shuts down 4 food service spots temporarily

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health temporarily closed four food service establishments because of emergency circumstances discovered during inspections between Oct. 16 and Oct. 31.

Joe's Oak Grove, 1139 Thompson Ave. in Severn, was closed Oct. 16-22 because of an unsatisfactory water supply.

The Acme Bar and Grill, 163 Main St. in Annapolis, was closed Oct. 18-20 because of a fire.

The Mayo Quick Shop on Route 214 in Mayo was partially closed Oct. 23-Nov. 4 because of an unsatisfactory water supply.

Angelo's Pizza Inc, 657 Deale Road in Deale, was closed Oct. 26 to Nov. 4 because of an unsatisfactory water supply.

Health workers inspected 95 restaurants and other food service establishments and found 16 with critical food safety violations that were immediately corrected. They found multiple violations at three places.

Jim's Hide A Way at 1439 Odenton Road in Odenton and Kentucky Fried Chicken at 5734 Ritchie Highway were both cited for not properly cooling food and not keeping food at the right temperature.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken at 511 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park was cited for not keeping food at the proper temperature and for not having potable hot and cold running water available.
