Fire-safety seminar planned for seniors

MOUNT AIRY AREA seniors should check out some popular events at the Mount Airy Senior Center this month.

At 10: 30 a.m. Monday, the center will sponsor a seminar titled "Fire Safety for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing." The speaker will be Christina Gue, Fire Safety Queen for the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company.

A breakfast for seniors will be served from 8: 30 a.m. to 9: 30 a.m. Tuesday. The menu will include pancakes, sausage, apples, juice and beverage. The cost is $2. Reservations are required.

Children's bingo

Join the afternoon fun at Children's Bingo from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mount Airy.

Doors will open at 12: 30 p.m. Admission is $2, which includes 10 regular games. Four special games will be available at a separate price.

Door prizes will be awarded, and refreshments will be sold. Proceeds will benefit children and youth programs at St. Michael's.

Holiday bazaar

The Horizons Church of God, 28912 Ridge Road in Mount Airy, will hold a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14.

The bazaar will feature baked goods, a candy shop and crafts. A Little Manger Gift Shop will enable children age 12 and younger to buy presents for family members and have them wrapped by other children.

Library infant program

The Mount Airy public library is offering an infant program at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. today. The program will feature dancing, singing and music for infants through 36 months. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

School dinner auction

The Mount Airy Elementary School will hold a dinner auction Nov. 21. The social event is for parents, neighbors, grandparents and friends to get together for a dinner, silent auction and live auction.

The dinner will be catered by a local restaurant. Auctioned items have been donated by parents, local businesses and teachers.

Kiwanis pancake breakfast

The Mount Airy Kiwanis Club will hold a pancake breakfast tomorrow at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mount Airy.

Breakfast will be served from 6 a.m. to noon in the church fellowship hall. The menu will include sausage, eggs and beverages. Cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children age 12 and under.

Proceeds will benefit Mount Airy NET, a community assistance network that helps community members in need.
