ROCKVILLE — Maryland Comptroller-elect William Donald Schaefer announced yesterday that his transition team will be headed by R. Robert Linowes, a lawyer who chaired a tax panel when Schaefer was governor.

The transition team is to review office operations for changes in preparation for Schaefer's swearing in in January. Schaefer said during his campaign that he would likely make minor changes in the office.

The 16-member team includes business leaders, a political science professor and advisers and Cabinet members from Schaefer's tenure as governor. The panel is to begin meeting within two weeks.

ROCKVILLE -- A woman whose body was found in a woods in Arlington, Va., on Oct. 19 and who reportedly died in a Montgomery County home during an evening of drug use has been identified as a Southwest Baltimore woman, said a county police spokeswoman.

Officer Joyce Barrow said that the night of Oct. 18, Julia Benson, 25, of the 300 block of Marydell Road had reportedly used drugs with others in a Wheaton home, where she was found dead the next morning. Her body was disposed of in Arlington, said Barrow.

Barrow said the Virginia medical examiner's office was to perform an autopsy.
