Tutors Needed

Area schools, libraries and literacy programs use volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills.

Among them are:

Thomas Johnson Elementary School, 100 E. Heath St., in South Baltimore, to work with children on reading during the school day. Training will be provided, and hours for tutoring arranged between 7: 45 a.m. and 3 p.m. Contact: Maria Zozuliak, 410-396-1575.

Maryland New Directions, 2220 N. Charles St., to work with adult literacy classes for General Educational Development students. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 3: 30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Contact: Helen Stough, 410-235- 8800.
