Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Kings Contrivance: 7100 block of Fountain Rock Way: A prowler attempted to enter a home Tuesday by cutting a window screen.

Kings Contrivance: 8400 block of Jandy Ave.: An intruder opened the side door of a home Tuesday by using an object to slide a door latch.

Wilde Lake: 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: A man approached a woman and her 4-year-old at their car parked Tuesday at The Mall in Columbia after the mother had given the child keys to unlock the car door. As the child handed the keys back, the man took them. After implying he had a weapon, the man got into the car and drove away.

North Laurel: 9600 block of Covered Wagon Drive: Two intruders entered an apartment Tuesday and were stopped by maintenance workers. The incident could be related to similar break-ins in the area during the three preceding days. Two 16-year-old boys were arrested.
