Anne Arundel County is one of five Maryland counties this fall that will be joining the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems Inc., the country's largest online multiple list network.

"This system will be beneficial to both potential buyers and Realtors in those areas," MRIS spokeswoman Valerie Rivers said.

"Before, Realtors in Anne Arundel County could only locate homes in Anne Arundel County on their database. Now, they will have access to our system, which is regional."

MRIS, used by the Greater Baltimore Board of Realtors, will also allow the homes in these new markets to be exposed to everyone who subscribes to the system.

Currently, there are more than 23,000 agents in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington who are linked to the network.

Along with Anne Arundel County, MRIS will be training 3,500 Realtors in Prince George's, Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties. Rivers said the training and switch will be complete by Dec. 31.
