An article in the Maryland section Tuesday incorrectly stated that there are no nonchain restaurants within walking distance of Baltimore's Union Square and Sowebo neighborhoods. Two that remain open are Glen & Nan's Beer Garden Cafe at 1101 Hollins St. and Sushi Cafe at 1120 Hollins St.

The Sun regrets the errors.

'Tour Between the Waters'

Cycle the back roads of Virginia's Eastern Shore Saturday and enjoy scenic stops along the way - from the Chesapeake Bay through fields and forests to the Atlantic Ocean. Starting at the wharf in Onancock, the one-day "Tour Between the Waters" offers 20-, 35-, 60- and 100-mile rides on flat routes. Snacks, drinks and lunch are included. And, in the evening, enjoy an Eastern Shore Oyster Roast. The annual event is sponsored by Citizens For A Better Eastern Shore.

Registration fee is $25, $6 children. Starting times are staggered, from 8 a.m. for the 100 mile ride to 11 a.m. for the 20 mile ride. Upon completion, each rider receives a T-shirt. Tickets for the oyster roast are $18. Call 757-678-7151.

Chrysanthemum Fest

Topiary re-creations of characters from Beatrix Potter's books will enchant visitors to Longwood Gardens' annual Chrysanthemum Festival, Saturday through Nov. 22. More than a dozen tableux depict favorite scenes from the classic children's stories throughout 20 different indoor gardens. From the vegetable garden scene with Peter Rabbit, Mr. Jeremy Fisher, and Benjamin Bunny at the conservatory entrance to Squirrel Nutking and Old Brown Owl in the Silver Garden, 24 characters have been created entirely from plant material. And the 4-acre conservatory overflows with 21,000 chrysanthemums in many colors, sizes, and shapes.

Longwood Garden is on U.S. 1 near Kennett Square, Pa. Outdoor gardens open at 9 a.m. and the conservatory at 10 a.m. daily, both close at 5 p.m. in October and 5 p.m. in November. Admission is $12 ($8 Tuesdays), $6 ages 16-20, $2 ages 6-15, free under 6. Call 800-228-9933.
