Helen Irene Honse, 83, Rosedale school secretary

Helen Irene Honse, a former saleswoman, died Sunday of complications of a stroke at Franklin Square Hospital. She was 83 and resided in Essex.

Mrs. Honse, who moved to Essex from Ligonier, Pa., in 1995, was a secretary at Shady Side Elementary School in Rosedale from 1996 until this year. She was formerly a sales associate in a Pittsburgh department store for many years.

The former Helen Kling was born in Homestead, Pa., and graduated from high school there. In the early 1940s, she married Kenneth M. Honse, who died in 1976.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for 55 years and was active in chapters in Pittsburgh and Essex.

Services were held yesterday.

She is survived by a daughter, Louise L. Harper of Middle River; and two grandchildren.

Adam Michael Mann, 16, former Towson resident

Adam Michael Mann, a high school student and former Towson resident, was killed Saturday when the car he was driving crashed into a tree in Roanoke, Va. He was 16.

Mr. Mann, who was a junior at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, was born in Towson, where he lived part of the year.

As a volunteer with the Appalachian Service Project, he worked with disadvantaged people in Kentucky and Tennessee. A computer buff, he also enjoyed hiking, camping and biking.

Plans for a memorial service in Baltimore were incomplete.

He is survived by his father, Michael Taylor Mann of Towson; his mother, Gail Luanne Ware of Roanoke; his paternal grandparents, Joseph L. and Dona J. Mann of Towson; his maternal grandparents, Clyde and Nila Ware of Roanoke; his stepmother, Barbara Gaeng of Towson; a brother, John Christopher Mann, and a sister, Laura Michelle Mann, both of Towson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
