Tonight's game

October 12, 1998

Miami (3-1) at Jacksonville (4-0)

Time: 8: 20, chs. 2, 7.

Line: Jaguars by 6 1/2 .

Vs. spread: Dolphins 2-2; Jaguars 3-1.

Outlook: Dolphins coach Jimmy Johnson will get out his motivational bag of tricks for this one, a big game against a Super Bowl contender from the same state. But to get out of Jacksonville with a win, the Dolphins will have to run more than the 15 times they tried last week and must play solid inside defense to back it up. The Jaguars' dominating offensive line is why QB Mark Brunell rarely gets sacked (eight times this year), giving him time to complete more than 65 percent of his passes. And it's why RB Fred Taylor stepped right in with a pair of 100-yard performances when James Stewart went down.

Notable: Jaguars have won 20 of their past 25 games.

Injuries:

DOLPHINS: Out: WR Charles Jordan (groin). Questionable: CB Jerry Wilson (concussion). Probable: DE Trace Armstrong (ankle); QB Craig Erickson (elbow); WR Nate Jacquet (hamstring); DE Jason Taylor (hand); LB Zach Thomas (finger).

JAGUARS: Questionable: LB Bryan Schwartz (knee); DE Joel Smeenge (shoulder); DE Fernando Smith (knee). Probable: DE Tony Brackens (ankle); LB James Hamilton (ankle); G Jeff Novak (leg); DT Seth Payne (shoulder); G Dave Thomas (hamstring).
