Delegate Schade to hold fund-raiser in Pasadena

Del. Vickie Schade, a Pasadena Republican, is having a $100-a-person fund-raiser from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clark's Bayside Inn in Pasadena.

Gayle Powell supporters plan fund-raiser at church

The Friends of Gayle Powell, a Democratic candidate for the House of Delegates from District 33, have scheduled a fund-raiser called a "Celebration of Children" at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Epiphany Episcopal Church's Child Development Center at Odenton and Morgan roads in Odenton.

Community group holding candidates night Wednesday

The Arundel Improvement Association will sponsor a candidates night at 8 p.m. Wednesday at 705 Cross St., Brooklyn Park.

Candidates will speak at Democratic Club meeting

The District 33 Democratic Club has scheduled a dinner meeting and rally at 6 p.m. Thursday at Christopher's Restaurant on Route 3, south in Crofton.

Speakers will include Democratic candidates for county executive, the House of Delegates from District 33 and Congress from the 1st District, which includes much of the central part of Anne Arundel and the Eastern Shore.

Buffet for Mary Rosso to feature Rep. Cardin

The Friends of Mary Rosso group is sponsoring an "All American Breakfast Buffet" at 7: 30 a.m. Thursday at La Fontaine Bleu, 7514 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie to raise money for Rosso, a Democratic candidate for the House of Delegates in District 31.

Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin, 3rd District Democrat, will speak.

Democratic Club to hold monthly meeting in Ferndale

The District 32 Democratic Club will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday at Ferndale Senior Center, 7205 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 8 p.m. New members are welcome.

Holy Name Society holding candidates forum Oct. 20

The Holy Name Society of Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church is sponsoring a forum for candidates for county executive, the House of Delegates from District 33 and the County Council from District 4 at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Parish Center, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville.

The candidates will introduce themselves and make brief statements about their positions before taking questions from the audience.

District 33 takes up most of the center of the county west of Route 2 from Lothian in the south to the Severn Run in the north and includes Odenton, Gambrills, Crofton, Millersville, Crownsville and parts of Severna Park. Councilmanic District 4 comprises most of West County north of Crofton, south of Donald Avenue in Severn and west and south of the Severn River, including Odenton, Severn and Crownsville.

Council candidate raffling airplane flight to Ocean City

Robert G. Pepersack, Republican candidate for County Council in the 2nd District, is raffling an airplane flight to Ocean City, with Pepersack as the pilot, and dinner at a waterfront restaurant to raise money for his campaign.

Tickets are $50, and the drawing is Nov. 5. Weather permitting, the flight will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 15.

Jimeno, Cadden score 100% on seniors' legislative rating

State Sen. Philip Jimeno and Del. Joan Cadden, 31st District Democrats, scored 100 percent on the United Seniors of Maryland State Legislative Scorecard.

The group recorded legislators' votes during the 1998 session on issues of importance to the elderly, including health care, insurance and taxes. Both lawmakers are running for re-election.
