The Land Development Council of the Home Builders Association of Maryland has given its Project of the Year award to the Clark Turner Co. for its work at Barrington, a garage townhouse community in Bel Air.

The Fifth Annual Award of Excellence ceremony was held last month at the Camden Yards Banquet Club. The awards recognize excellence in design and quality of land developments and honor outstanding contributions to the land development industry by individuals and companies.

HBAM cited Turner's series of pedestrian-friendly villages at Barrington that feature architectural or natural focal points. In its award, the organization also noted the community's tree-lined parkway entrance, the putting green framed by pines and a ridge serving as a boundary for a protected enclave.

Other Land Development Council winners included: Fritzi Hallock of Market-Smart as Consultant of the Year and Lawrence Macks of Macks and Macks Inc. as Land Developer of the Year. Charles Holman of The Columbia Bank was awarded the council's Lifetime Achievement award.
