$25,000 bail set for Sykesville man accused in robbery

A Sykesville man was held in lieu of $25,000 bail yesterday after he was arrested on a warrant stemming from robbery and assault charges sought 12 days ago in Westminster.

Audbrey C. Williams, 39, of the 500 block of Schoolhouse Road also was served a bench warrant yesterday, charging him for failing to appear Sept. 30 in District Court on unrelated cocaine counts. An additional $5,000 bond was set in that case.

In the latest incident, Williams was charged with robbery, conspiracy to rob, assault and conspiracy to assault.

He is the second man charged in the robbery of Rexford R. Warman, who told police he accepted a ride near his home in Westminster from three men in a Chevrolet about 11: 30 p.m. Sept. 25.

Gordon L. Walters, 26, of the first block of Elger St. in Union Bridge was arrested last week on robbery, theft, assault and false imprisonment charges stemming from Warman's complaint.

Warman told police he was driven around rural roads near Westminster before he was ordered to hand over his wallet.

Charging documents said Warman asked to be let out of the car, but was not allowed to get out. He said he got away after grabbing the steering wheel and forcing the car off Goodwins Quarry Road.
