Autumn Glory Festival

Celebrate the glory of the fall foliage season at Garrett County's 31st Annual Autumn Glory Festival this weekend in downtown Oakland and the surrounding area. Highlights are an Oktoberfest celebration and firefighter events, the "official" Maryland State Banjo and Fiddle Championships, music, a parade and crafts and antiques. New events this year include a Day of Hope Pro-Am Golf Tournament, a classic car show and the end-of-season Garrett Lake Arts Festival Concert.

Apple Festival

There's one more weekend left for the National Apple Harvest Festival in the heart of apple country, Arendtsville, Pa. Children will enjoy the petting zoo, apple bobbing and pie-eating contests, and trying out their driving skills at the mini tractor pull. Continuous entertainment includes bluegrass and country music, square dancing and puppeteers. View apple art, see craft demonstrations, and don't miss the mountain of food.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission i$6, $5 seniors, under 12 free. Parking and shuttle buses are free. The festival site is 10 miles north of Gettysburg. Call 717-334-6274.
