* Item: Patak's Original Indian cooking sauces and chutneys

* What you get: 3 to 9 servings

* Cost: About $5.50

* Preparation time: 40 minutes to 1 hour

* Review: Close business associates from England who often come to the United States claim they cannot last a week without getting their fix of Indian food. These sauces - imported from the United Kingdom and available at Sutton Place Gourmet in Woodholme - make it easy to replicate authentic Indian taste at home. The Tandoori Paste with its strong cumin, coriander and ginger flavors added some real spice to grilled chicken. The Jalfrezi cooking sauce was dominated by sweet peppers and coconut just as the label claimed. Other products in the Patak's line include Dopiaza mild cooking sauce and Saag medium cooking sauce as well as a number of interesting chutneys. With a salad and some rice to offset the underlying heat of many of these dishes, you'll quickly have dinner fit for a maharajah.
