New Annapolitans to hear talk by photojournalist

The New Annapolitans will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road. Newcomers may attend at 9 a.m. to learn about the group. All members are invited for refreshments and socializing at 9: 30 a.m. before the formal program.

Photojournalist Henry D. Burroughs will be the speaker. Burroughs, who was on the staff of the Associated Press for 33 years, will present a slide show retrospective, "Moments in History," providing his experiences through the years with U.S. presidents from Franklin D. Roosevelt to John F. Kennedy.

Membership in the club is open to women who apply within 18 months of moving to the Annapolis area.

Sporting dog exhibition will be held Sunday

The 10th Working and Sporting Dog Exhibition sponsored by the Shady Side Rural Heritage Society will be presented from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedarhurst Community Center in Shady Side.

The winner of the society's $10,000 raffle will be drawn that afternoon. The exhibition is conducted by the society to foster the traditional roles of dogs and waterfowl. The event is free; refreshments will be available.
