St. Philip Neri to celebrate Our Lady of Rosary feast

IN CELEBRATION of the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Rev. Casimir Peterson of the Reparation Society of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will bring the Lady of Fatima Statue to St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Parish for a crowning ceremony at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Linthicum Heights

The evening begins with the recitation of the rosary, followed by a solemn procession with the crown. The Knights of Columbus will provide an honor guard.

Members of the St. Philip Neri Sodality, Catholic Daughters, Bible study groups and the Men's Club will participate.

Herb club ribbons

Members of the Friendly Thyme Herb Club took home several ribbons from the recent Anne Arundel County Fair.

They were: Marion Adams, champion ribbon for her jewel weed ointment; Robin Ireland-Ward, champion ribbon for her potted dish of winter savory; and Marie Gish, blue ribbons for herb bread and a dried wreath of herbs and flowers.

Quilters to meet

The Friendship Quilters' next meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W. Maple Road. Helen Kelley of Minneapolis, an international quilt teacher and a columnist for Quilters Newsletter, will speak on "Dear Hearts and Nimble Fingers."

The club meets on the second Thursday of each month September through June. Dues are $15 a year.

Candidates to speak

The next meeting of the Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights will be open to the community and focus on politics.

The meeting will be at 10: 30 a.m. Oct. 13 at the clubhouse, 110 N. Hammonds Ferry Road.

Speakers will be candidates for county executive and for the 1st District County Council seat. The general election is Nov. 3.

Incumbent Republican John G. Gary is running against Democrat Janet S. Owens for county executive.

The council candidates are Republican Gerald P. Starr and Democrat Pam G. Beidle.

Each candidate will make a brief presentation, followed by questions and answers.

Fall festival

Craft artisans are wanted to participate in a Fall Craft Bazaar sponsored by the women's group at St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W. Maple Road.

The bazaar is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the church.

Only crafts will be featured this year; no flea market items will be sold. Spaces will cost $12 each, and tables are available at $2.

Entertainment books

The Woman's Club of Linthicum Heights is raising money for its community projects by selling Entertainment Ultimate '99 Books.

The new edition, which costs $35, combines the former Baltimore North and Baltimore South editions. Editions for other states are available at the same price.
