A well-made structure

Call it the trifecta of trends: Structure's new X-Pants combine three hot looks - drawstrings, cargo pockets and khakis.

These slouchy, stylish trousers are made for men, but they're already turning up on fashionable women as well. They come in other shades, including navy and olive, and two fabrics: twill ($28.50) or corduroy ($39.50). Available at Structure stores.

Only Neiman Marcus ...

The new Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog is a mail-order glimpse into how the other half lives. Here are highlights from this page-turner of luxury and outlandishness:

* What to get the woman you adore: An antique tiara with 120 carats of diamonds. $300,000.

* And the woman you don't: Brown anti-slip socks. $18.

* His and her gift: Cracker Jack boxes with surprises inside: cuff links shaped like Cracker Jack boxes for him ($400); an 18-karat gold ring with ruby, emerald or sapphire for her ($950).

* Outfit that will make you want to go out for the holidays: Christian Lacroix's ruby velvet ball gown. $6,990.

* Outfit that will make you want to stay in: Black velvet robe with mink collar and cuffs. $1,685.

* Nod to Baltimore (even if you can't wear it): Limited-edition baseball decorated like Camden Yards. $20.

(For a catalog of your own, call 800-634-6267. The cost is $6.50 but is applied to a purchase from the catalog).

Packed and ready to go

Anyone who travels knows the hassles of packing - and carrying what's jammed in a suitcase.

Danskin has come up with its own solution: Packables, a 12-piece wardrobe that covers the fashion bases.

The versatile collection includes an ankle-length dress, long skirt, crew-neck T-shirt, jacket, cardigan, sleeveless shell and drawstring pants. The Lycra blend fabric is lightweight and resists wrinkling.

Pieces come in black or mahogany and regular through plus sizes. (Prices range from $20 to $78.) The company also features "The Weekender Pak" - four essential pieces in a handy tote ($160). Available at department and specialty stores including Macy's and Nordstrom.

Fashionably pregnant

Kathy Ireland, supermodel turned fashion designer, takes inspiration from her own life.

After struggling to find attractive maternity clothes when she was pregnant four years ago, she decided to create her own line. The timing has been especially handy because Ireland, whose denim shirts, velour pants and other maternity designs hit Kmart stores recently, is due with her second child this fall.

Now Ireland is introducing a line of cardigans, thermals and workout clothes. We're wondering if she had those post-pregnancy pounds in mind.
