'Winnie-the-Pooh'

Watch a musical adaptation of the classic A.A. Milne story, "Winnie-the-Pooh," on stage weekends throughout October at the Hannah More Arts Center at St. Timothy's School. The Pumpkin Theatre and director Sandy Murphy bring the tale of Winnie, Tigger and Eeyore to life. Shows are recommended for children ages 4 and up. A sign language interpreter will be present at the 3 p.m. Sunday performance. A "Winnie-the-Pooh Birthday Party" with a live owl, costumed characters and refreshments will take place at the Irvine Natural Science Center on the campus of St. Timothy's School, Oct. 11 and Oct. 17 at noon and 4 p.m. both days.

"Winnie-the-Pooh" will be performed Saturday and Sunday and Oct. 10-11 and Oct. 17-18, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Performances at St. Timothy's School, Greenspring Avenue in Stevenson. Show: $9 in advance; $10 at the door. Party: $5. Call 410-828-1814.

See the Baltimore City Fire Department's Fire Prevention Parade Saturday as it travels from Paca and Cross streets to Washington Boulevard and Bush Street, beginning at 2 p.m. Boumi Temple marching bands, area high school bands and modern and antique fire apparatus and trucks will be in the procession.

Attend a fire prevention open house at Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company Sunday with demonstrations, tours and safety displays.

Take part in "The Great Escape" at the Fire Museum of Maryland Sunday, as this new exhibit puts you into a fire situation and teaches you to escape safely. A "Thrill Show" with rescue demonstrations by the Special Rescue Operations Team and a State Police helicopter and displays by the Fire Department's scuba team, takes place Oct. 10 at the Fire Academy. Many other events take place throughout the month.
