Monday last day to register to vote in Nov. 3 election

The Anne Arundel County Board of Supervisors of Elections ZTC has set Monday as the last day for residents to register to vote in the Nov. 3 general election.

Voter registration applications are available at the election office, 7320 Ritchie Highway, Room 200 in Glen Burnie; all county library branches; state Motor Vehicle Administration offices; post offices; most banks and savings and loans; and other public agencies.

Monday is also the last day to apply for elderly or handicapped barrier-free polling places. Call 410-222-6600 to do so.

Oct. 27 is the deadline for receipt of an absentee ballot application.

District 32 nominees set up Web site

Team 32, the Democratic State House nominees from District has set up a Web site.

Voters can check in online with Ed DeGrange, candidate for state Senate, Del. Mary Anne Love, who is running for re-election, and Ted Sophocleus and Victor Sulin, candidates for the other House of Delegates slots in the district.

Also available are the Democratic Central Committee candidates, Kathy Shatt, John Riggin and Earl Barnes. The Web address is www.team32.com.

Candidates for executive, council to speak Oct. 7

The Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce is holding a candidates forum Oct. 7 in the Glen Burnie High School auditorium from 6: 45 p.m. to 9: 30 p.m. The forum will feature Democratic and Republican candidates for county executive and County Council Districts 1, 2 and 3. A business mixer will be held from 5 p.m. to 6: 30 p.m. The cost for the mixer is $10 in advance or $12 at the door. There is no charge for the forum.

8 eateries to participate in Schneider event Oct. 6

"A Taste of District 33 -- Encore," a fund-raiser for Sheila Schneider, Democratic candidate in District 33 for the House of Delegates, will be held Oct. 6 at Kaufmann's Restaurant in Gambrills from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eight restaurants from the district will provide food: Arianna's, Christopher's, Confucius Cafe, Kaufmann's, Pachanga Grill, Sly Horse Tavern, Trifles and Vera's Bakery & Cafe. Oct. 6 dinner at O'Brien's to feature Del. Busch

Carl O. Snowden, chairman of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Dinner Committee, has announced that Del. Michael E. Busch, a Democrat running for re-election in District 30, will be the keynote speaker at the Oct. 6 dinner at O'Brien's Restaurant in Annapolis. Tickets are $20 and will be available at the door.
