New positions

Edward E. Berger appointed treasurer of Comsat

Comsat Corp., based in Bethesda, appointed Edward E. Berger treasurer. He formerly was a managing director for the Washington-based advisory firm of Taylor-DeJongh. A Bethesda resident, he is an MBA graduate of Cornell University and holds an advanced degree from the University of Leuven in Belgium.

Tristate Electric names Powell, Edwards directors

Tristate Electric & Electronic Supply Co. named Greg Powell director of its OEM/Automation & Electronics division and named John W. Edwards director of integrated supply for the Hagerstown-based firm.

Powell, a Baltimore native, is an electrical engineer and graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. Edwards, also a UM graduate, will manage current accounts as well as develop new integrated supply clients. He formerly was an area marketing representative for Crouse-Hinds.

Cross is PR manager for Downtown Partnership

Richard J. Cross III is public relations manager of Downtown Partnership of Baltimore. He will assist in development and implementation of promotional strategies and plans as well as edit publications and newsletters. The Johns Hopkins University graduate formerly was press secretary for 2nd District Rep. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., a Republican.

Danoff manages bookstore for Baltimore International

Baltimore International College appointed Louis Danoff as manager of the school's bookstore. He will have responsibility for the daily operation, inventory, merchandising and purchasing for the outlet. A Baltimore International graduate and certified baker, the Takoma Park resident owned and ran Zenith Comics & Collectibles and managed the Another Universe bookstore in Washington.

MGH Advertising Inc. hired Lisa Howard as an account executive at the Pikesville agency. She will be liaison for several clients, including Commercial Credit Co. and the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. Formerly production coordinator with Catholic Charities, she is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame of Maryland.

Legal and insurance

LaTulip elected president of Avon-Dixon Agency

Avon-Dixon Agency and affiliate Joseph M. George Agency elected Kevin LaTulip as president of the Easton-based insurance provider. He previously was resident vice president of Reliance Insurance, based in Columbia. A certified property and casualty underwriter, the Grasonville resident is a graduate of Boston College and is active with Chesapeake Bay Maritime museum and the Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage Organization.

Banking and finance

Kilroy is marketing chief for Provident Bank

Provident Bank of Maryland promoted Lillian Suffolk Kilroy to managing director of its marketing division. She will oversee all advertising promotions, communications and community relations activity. Before joining the Baltimore financial institution, she was a vice president and manager for First Interstate Bank.

The Edgewater resident is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University. She is active with Goodwill Industries and serves as an instructor for the Bank Marketing Association's school of bank marketing.
