Revitalization efforts to be honored Oct. 9
Light Street Housing Corp., the Maryland Center for Community Development and the Washington Village Pigtown Neighborhood Planning Council will be honored for their revitalizing work in the Washington Village/Pigtown area.
The three community organizations will be feted from 6: 30 p.m to 9 p.m. Oct. 9, when Tri-Churches Housing Inc. holds its 3rd Annual Awards Dinner in the upper hall of St. Jerome's Head Start Center, 765 W. Hamburg St.
Diane Bell McKoy, chief executive officer and president of Empower Baltimore Management Corp., will be the featured speaker, with music provide by the Dunbar Jazz Ensemble.

Brown is new president of Mortgage Brokers
Joseph M. Brown Jr., senior partner and managing member of Premier Equity Mortgage in Woodlawn, was recently installed as president of the Maryland Association of Mortgage Brokers. He succeeds Jeffrey Wolpe of University Mortgage.
Brown's 30 years in the financing industry include 25 as an executive with Household Finance Corp. He helped found Premier in 1996.
Workshop will teach about selling a home
Harbel Housing Partnership is sponsoring a free workshop for home sellers Oct. 1 at 6: 30 p.m. at the Towson Library, 320 York Road.
