Television: ESPN (tomorrow, 4-6 p.m.; Saturday, 5: 30-7 p.m.; Sunday, 5-7 p.m.)

Last year: Hale Irwin won the seventh of nine 1997 titles, closing with a 7-under 65 for a two-stroke victory over Gil Morgan. Irwin, a playoff loser to Gibby Gilbert in 1996, had a 16-under 200 total.

Last week: South Africa's Hugh Baiocchi won the rain-shortened Kroger Classic at Mason, Ohio. Baiocchi, the Comfort Classic winner the previous week, birdied the second hole of a playoff with Bob Charles, Frank Conner, Larry Nelson and Bruce Summerhays.

Skinny: Irwin, a six-time winner this year, has earned a record $2,344,670 in 18 starts, $1,306 more than he made last year in 23 events.

Last year: German star Bernhard Langer matched the tour record with a 12-under 60 in the third round en route to a six-stroke victory over Scotland's Colin Montgomerie.

Last week: Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez won the Lancome Trophy at Saint-Nom-La-Breteche, France, finishing with an 11-under 273 total for a two-stroke victory over U.S. stars David ,, Duval and Mark O'Meara, Sweden's Jarmo Sandelin and New Zealand's Greg Turner.

Skinny: PGA champion Vijay Singh of Fiji is in the field along with England's Nick Faldo and U.S. Ryder Cup players Brad Faxon and Scott Hoch.
