Tonight's game

September 21, 1998

Time: 8: 20 p.m., chs, 2, 7.

Line: Giants by 4.

Vs. spread: Cowboys 1-1; Giants 1-1.

Outlook: First Trent Green, and now Jason Garrett? So much for Monday night marquee value. Dallas will try to get by while injured QB Troy Aikman (broken clavicle) watches from the sideline. Coach Chan Gailey is known for exotic formations, but he'll probably scale the offense back until Aikman returns. Emmitt Smith, who has looked good in the first two weeks, likely will carry much of the load. After an embarrassing loss to the Raiders, the Giants have to find a running game. Tiki Barber, Charles Way and Gary Brown just haven't gotten the job done, but the Cowboys aren't stopping the run.

Notable: Giants are 7-1-1 when QB Danny Kanell throws at least one TD pass.

Injuries:

COWBOYS: Out: QB Troy Aikman (clavicle); RB Chris Warren (groin). Questionable: NT Chad Hennings (knee/ankle). Probable: DT Leon Lett (knee); G Everett McIver (elbow); WR Ernie Mills (foot); WR Jeff Ogden (ankle); CB Charlie Williams (thumb); RB Sherman Williams (groin).

GIANTS: Doubtful: S Brandon Sanders (foot); LB Scott Galyon (Achilles'/calf). Probable: LB Jessie Armstead (ankle); LB Marcus Buckley (hip).
