Indians: Manny Ramirez, who had six homers in his previous DTC three games, went 0-for-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch. Jaret Wright is 3-0 with a 2.41 ERA against the Royals this year.

Red Sox: John Valentin has not made an error in 64 games. That's the longest streak by a Boston third baseman since 1971, when Rico Petrocelli went 76 games without an error.

Royals: Kevin Appier fanned Jim Thome in the second inning for his 1,367th strikeout. That passed Mark Gubicza for the most in team history.

Tigers: Tony Clark's homer broke the record he shared with Mickey Tettleton for most homers by a Detroit switch-hitter. Juan Encarnacion has hit safely in 26 of the 32 games he's played since his Aug. 17 recall from Triple-A Toledo.

Twins: Rick Aguilera made his 469th appearance with Minnesota, breaking the club record he shared with Jim Kaat. Paul Molitor's double extended his hitting streak to 16 games.

White Sox: Frank Thomas has 105 walks, 101 runs scored and 101 RBIs. It is the eighth consecutive season he has reached 100 in all three categories.
