Catonsville pastor charged with abusing teens

A pastor of two Baltimore churches was arrested and charged yesterday with child abuse and sex offenses allegedly involving three teen-age congregants, Baltimore County police said.

Wayne Arthur Hartz, 47, of the 200 block of Ingleside Ave. in Catonsville was charged with three counts of child abuse, two counts of third-degree sex offense and one count of perverted practice.

The charges involve a 13- , a 14- and a 15-year-old who attend Hartz's churches, Redeemer Lutheran Church in the 4200 block of Vermont Ave. and Bethany Lutheran Church in the 1000 block of Haverhill Road, both in Baltimore.

Police said the alleged offenses occurred during the past year.
