Maryland pharmacists plan leadership forum Sept. 26

The Maryland Pharmacists Association will play host to the Maryland Pharmacists Leadership Forum Sept. 26 at Loews Annapolis Hotel in Annapolis.

The purpose of the forum is to bring together pharmacists from all of the pharmacy organizations in Maryland to discuss legislation, pharmacy care and other issues.

The goal is to send a message to state legislators and the public that pharmacy care is worthy of support.

The forum is sponsored by Astra Pharmaceuticals. The guest speaker will be Del. Donald B. Elliott, a Republican from Carroll and Howard counties and a community pharmacist. Information: 410- 727-0746.

YWCA offers workshop to aid in career choices

YWCA Career Services is offering Progressions, an eight-hour workshop dealing with knowledge and skills needed for career decisions. The workshop is scheduled from 6: 30 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday and Sept. 22 and 24.

It is free to Career Service participants; otherwise, a YWCA membership and $28 program fee is required. Information: 410- 757-5400.

Chamber plans workshops on sex, drugs in workplace

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce will sponsor workshops on "Sex and Drugs in the Workplace: Know When to Say No!" from 8: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at Fort Meade Officers' Club, Fort Meade.

The cost to Maryland Chamber members is $75 both sessions, $50 one session; for nonmembers, $125 both sessions, $75 one session.

Experts will discuss workers' compensation and employment law. An "Interactive Sexual Harassment" workshop will be in the morning, and a "Workers' Compensation, Drug and Alcohol Use" workshop will be in the afternoon.

Chamber, retired executives offer advice on business

The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Annapolis is working with the local chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives to assist owners and managers of large and small businesses.

Two blocks of time per month are available for chamber members and other business owners who would like one-on-one advice. The confidential sessions are available by appointment the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. and 10: 30 a.m. Information: 410-757-6709 or 410- 974-4402.

Lee Hatfield, president-elect of the Anne Arundel Association of Realtors, is scheduled to take office in November. He has been a licensed real estate broker since 1985 and holds CRS and GRI designations.

O'Conor, Piper & Flynn-ERA announces the acquisition of Castle Harbor Realty Inc. of Pasadena, effective today , according to Jim O'Conor, president of OPF. Castle Harbor, founded in 1988, is owned by Charlene Wroten. Seventeen Castle Harbor sales associates will relocate with Wroten to the OPF Pasadena office.

Dr. Charles F. Converse, president of Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Inc. in Severna Park, recently announced the addition of Dr. James Edward Chappell to the staff. Chappell recently completed a plastic surgery residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and lives in Severna Park.
