Careerscope Inc. appoints six members to board of directors

Careerscope Inc., a Columbia-based nonprofit career development and job search organization, has appointed six new members to its volunteer board of directors.

The new board members who will be beginning two-year terms this month are Judy Friedman of the American Heart Association; Jack Janssen of Chesapeake Biological Laboratories; Bob Martin of Bell Atlantic Corp.; Charles Ramos of C. R. Dynamics; Sherri Tolley of The Ryland Group; and Anthony Wright of Interim Services.

Careerscope offers individual career planning, a teen parent program, Welfare to Work and other programs.

inSITE training firm given Atlantic City airport job

The Federal Aviation Administration, William J. Hughes Technical Center at the Atlantic City International Airport, Atlantic City, N.J., has awarded a contract to inSITE Training & Development Inc. for quality improvement customer service training, inSITE President Susan S. Porter has announced.

The Columbia-based company provides technical computer training and nontechnical management training and consulting.

Office on Aging seeks Penguin Pace 5K sponsors

The Howard County Office on Aging is seeking local businesses and organizations to sponsor its Penguin Pace 5K Road Race, scheduled for Feb. 7.

Proceeds from the race will benefit senior activities and programs at the Florence Bain Senior Center in Columbia.

William M. Russell, M.D., has been appointed medical director of Heartlands Senior Living Village in Ellicott City. He is a member of the Seton Medical Group, which is affiliated with St. Agnes HealthCare.

Tina Behn has been appointed account manager at the Howard County Office of Integrated Staffing Solutions. She will meet with employers to determine their temporary staffing needs, manage office operations, and coordinate recruiting and employee placement.
